Who are Hermidale Future Farmers?

From 7 students in 2022 to 12 students in 2024, Hermidale Public School became broad acre crop farmers.

With the support of our community we transformed the paddock behind our small school into 85 hectares of golden wheat crop.

A three-year Cropping Immersion Project has enabled students at HPS to increase their knowledge in the practice of farming, of working the land in a sustainable manner, and the environmental implications facing the agricultural sector. The project will provide a hands-on approach to learning and demonstrate the value of working hard to gain incredible outcomes.

OUR SHOP

As we draw to the end of the school year for 2024 and the end of our 3 year project - we will be closing the shop over the Christmas/January holidays while staff are on school break.

Stay tuned for when it will open again in 2025 to score some limited edition HFF merch!

  • With the funds raised from the cropping project, the students will participate in incredible learning experiences each year.

  • The 2022 Educational, Cultural and Social Immersion Project is to the Northern Territory from 19th June - 1st July, 2022. Our seven students will explore Darwin, visit Jabiru State School, immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks and be inspired by the art, culture and history of Australia’s Top End.

  • The 2023 Educational, Cultural and Social Immersion Project proposed destination was visiting the South Coast of NSW via Canberra. Our students were welcomed to Tanja Public School and enjoyed the Tathra and Bega area.

We then travelled later in the year to Newcastle to the Newcastle Agri Terminal, with thanks to Arrow, a Platinum Plus Partner of HFF. We also enjoyed a trip to Taronga Zoo.
